Lahcen Saadi Highlights the Moroccan Model of Coexistence in Seville

Lahcen Saadi, the Secretary of State for Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, stated that organizing a Ramadan Iftar at the Hassan II Pavilion in Seville, in partnership with the Three Cultures Foundation of the Mediterranean, represents a symbolic moment reflecting the profound cultural and civilizational ties between Morocco and Spain. He emphasized the role that Moroccan handicrafts can play in promoting values of dialogue and coexistence among peoples.

During this gathering, attended by various political, diplomatic, and cultural figures and stakeholders from different fields, Saadi explained that the month of Ramadan is a human and spiritual occasion to recall the meanings of tolerance, openness, and acceptance of others—values deeply rooted in Moroccan civilization over centuries.

He added that the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, has established a unique model of coexistence among various religions and cultures. Throughout its history, Morocco has served as a space for interaction between Muslims, Jews, and Christians, characterized by mutual respect and harmony, positioning the Moroccan experience as a reference for fostering a culture of dialogue among civilizations and promoting values of moderation and peace.

Saadi also pointed out that the handicrafts sector is not limited to producing artifacts and material goods; it also reflects the depth of Moroccan history and the richness of its cultural and human heritage. He affirmed that Moroccan artisans carry this civilizational legacy and pass it down from generation to generation, enhancing the visibility of Moroccan identity in various international arenas.

In this context, Saadi stressed that such cultural and humanitarian initiatives are part of the efforts of the Secretary of State to safeguard this heritage and enhance its international presence, considering cultural diplomacy as a fundamental bridge to strengthen communication between peoples and reinforce ties between Morocco and Spain.

He also recalled the framework agreement signed in Essaouira to strengthen cooperation in the handicrafts sector, noting that the upcoming phase would see the acceleration of several joint initiatives, including the rehabilitation of the Hassan II Pavilion in Seville and the enhancement of exchanges between Moroccan artisans and their counterparts in Andalusia.

The Iftar event was attended by Royal Adviser André Azoulay, the Minister of Culture of the Andalusian Government Patricia del Pozo, along with several officials, diplomats, cultural stakeholders, and foreign guests.
