Moroccan Pavilion Captivates Visitors at the 2026 International Travel Expo
The Moroccan pavilion, titled “Kingdom of Light,” at the 2026 International Travel Expo has drawn significant attention from visitors since the outset, offering an immersive experience that reflects the richness and diversity of Moroccan culture through majestic architectural arches, warm lighting, and traditional decorations that transport attendees on an exploratory journey into the spirit of the kingdom.
Spanning an area of 200 square meters and overseen by the Moroccan National Tourism Office, the pavilion presents a comprehensive showcase of Morocco, blending cultural promotion, hospitality, and professional engagement, attracting a large number of visitors and Indian tourism stakeholders throughout the day.
The rhythmic beats of Gnawa music transform the pavilion into a vibrant space, where musicians perform live shows punctuated by the sounds of castanets, guembri, and drums, amid traditional carpets, intricately carved lanterns, and leather cushions, creating an atmosphere that merges spirituality with festivity.
The applied scenography blends modernity with authenticity, showcasing traditional craftsmanship alongside contemporary displays, while the Moroccan zellige recalls the architecture of ancient cities and palaces, and the rugs and artistic artifacts reflect the cultural diversity of the kingdom.
Giant screens distributed within the pavilion continuously broadcast views of Morocco’s natural landscapes, from green oases and sandy dunes to ancient cities and Atlantic shores, reinforcing Morocco’s image as a multifaceted tourist destination.
The experience continues by highlighting Moroccan rituals and traditions, emphasizing the sharing of tea preparation, henna art, and the Moroccan caftan as a symbol of elegance, craftsmanship, and living heritage.
Moroccan calligraphy also holds a prominent place, featuring live performances by calligrapher and visual artist Mohammed Boukhana, whose works have captivated Indian visitors, many of whom requested to have their names or symbolic phrases written in Arabic.
In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press, Eesha, a professional representing a travel agency in Mumbai, noted that the Moroccan pavilion stands out at the expo, not only for showcasing a tourist destination but also for allowing visitors to experience its details in depth. She emphasized that the emotional approach encourages the promotion and on-ground exploration of Morocco.
In addition to its cultural dimension, the pavilion solidifies its presence as a venue for professional meetings, featuring nine Moroccan travel agencies alongside the Moroccan National Tourism Office, aimed at promoting the richness of Morocco’s tourist offerings through cultural itineraries, luxury stays, and experiential tourism targeting the Indian market.
Youssef Amer, Operations Director at “Zla Gh” Travel Agency, confirmed that participation for the third consecutive year has garnered notable interest since the expo opened, highlighting that the increasing number of Indian tourists heading to Morocco reflects the fruitful efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and the Moroccan National Tourism Office.
Morocco’s participation in this event, considered one of the most significant international tourism gatherings in India and Asia, aligns with a robust growth trend in Indian tourism to the kingdom, as the number of arrivals rose by 31% in 2025 compared to 2024, and by 224% compared to 2019.
The expo, inaugurated in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to New Delhi, Mohammed Maliki, hosts over 2,100 exhibitors from more than 60 countries and expects to attract more than 50,000 professional visitors. Meanwhile, sector data indicates that Indian travelers spent $31.7 billion abroad in 2024, with projected annual trips reaching between 80 and 90 million.
