The Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region has completed 123 projects as part of the National Initiative for Human Development with a budget of 39 million dirhams.
The overall financial envelope for implementing 123 projects under the National Initiative for Human Development programs in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region in 2025 exceeded 39 million dirhams, of which 26 million and 61 thousand dirhams came from the National Initiative itself. The projects were implemented within four main programs, focusing on addressing deficits in infrastructure and essential social services, supporting vulnerable individuals, improving income and economic integration for youth, and promoting human development for emerging generations.
The first program included nine projects related to roads, electricity, and access to potable water. The second program aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals included 48 projects that benefited 3,980 individuals, covering areas such as child protection, youth integration, socio-economic support for the elderly, and assistance for people with disabilities. The third program focused on improving income and economic integration for youth and included 28 projects aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, the social economy, youth platforms, and employability, while the fourth program aimed at advancing human development for upcoming generations included 38 projects benefiting over 19,000 individuals in maternal and child health, education, and school enrollment.
Geographically, 63 projects were carried out in Boujdour, 23 in Tarfaya, 20 in Smara, and 13 in Laâyoune. A meeting chaired by the region’s Wali, Abdeslam Becharat, with the president of the region, provincial governors, and members of the regional committee for the National Initiative for Human Development, presented a detailed report on the overall results of the regional human development action plan for 2025. This also included the regional capacity building plan, the communication strategy, and a video documenting the achievements of the initiative from 2005 to 2025.
