Spain: Moroccan Arrested at Morocco’s Request on Suspicion of Involvement in Illegal Migration Network

The Spanish authorities in Pamplona announced today the arrest of a Moroccan individual suspected of belonging to a network engaged in organizing irregular migration to Europe via maritime routes.

According to Spanish media sources, the arrest followed the issuance of a Red Notice by Interpol at Morocco’s request, pinpointing the suspect’s location within Spanish territory, prompting security services to track and accurately locate him before his apprehension.

An official statement clarified that the operation occurred within the framework of security cooperation between Morocco and Spain. The individual in question had been residing illegally in Spain before being transferred to the competent judicial authorities and placed under provisional detention while awaiting extradition procedures.

Initial reports suggest that the arrested individual is suspected of organizing illicit migration trips starting from Moroccan shores for financial compensation. The Spanish National Court is expected to review the extradition request, in coordination with the local court in Pamplona, following the established legal protocols.
