The city of Oujda is getting ready to host the 13th edition of the Eastern Science Festival, organized by the Omar Ibn Abdel Aziz Foundation, from February 12 to 14, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, with the theme “Science for All and with It We Build the Future.”
This year’s edition will have a special celebratory character, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Dar Al-Ilm for the Eastern region, which has become a space for promoting scientific culture and bringing knowledge closer to various segments of society, particularly children and youth.
The programme for this edition features a practical field orientation, consisting of 125 scientific workshops benefiting over 9,300 students, distributed across five middle schools in Oujda, namely Moulay Ismail High School, Karkarat, Abdelmalek Saadi, Maki Nasiri, and Riyadh, aiming to foster scientific curiosity and enhance critical thinking among young people.
Alongside the school activities, Omar Ibn Abdel Aziz High School will host a “Festival Village,” which will include 80 diverse scientific workshops, expecting to welcome around 7,000 visitors, featuring thematic areas covering digital and urban transformation, physics and astronomy, as well as health and the environment.
This edition will see the participation of several national institutions, including the General Directorate of National Security, the Digital Development Agency, and the Regional Multi-Service Company of the East, reflecting the commitment of institutional actors to support scientific culture.
In line with technological transformations, the festival has dedicated significant attention to digital transformation by organizing 100 scientific and training workshops, highlighting issues related to cybersecurity through awareness workshops for 100 families, in addition to organizing a national cybersecurity competition named “Cyber Drill” at the “Zone 01” venue in Oujda, involving 30 teams of talented individuals.
The festival’s activities will conclude on Saturday, February 14, with a celebratory evening at the Mohammed VI Theatre in Oujda, during which participants will be honored and partners supporting this scientific event will be celebrated.
The organization of the Eastern Science Festival comes within a vision aimed at making Oujda an open scientific platform and a space to enhance the culture of innovation, contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of facing future challenges and participating in the successful pathways of digital transition and urban development in the kingdom.
