Morocco and France Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation at Paris Exhibition
Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests Minister Ahmed Bouhari held talks with French Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Annie Genevard, on the sidelines of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Paris.
The meeting, attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to France, Soumaya Sittail, highlighted the strengthened bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, which was solidified in 2024 with the signing of a framework agreement encompassing both agricultural and forestry sectors, along with several specialized administrative arrangements.
Both sides expressed their shared commitment to accelerating the implementation of adopted roadmaps, particularly in livestock breeding, agricultural training, animal and plant health, and the management of agricultural water resources amid climate challenges. They also emphasized enhancing cooperation between professional organizations in both countries to support sustainable agricultural development.
The French official praised Morocco’s participation in this international event, recalling that the kingdom was the guest of honor at the previous edition, and noted that bilateral relations have gained new momentum since French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Morocco in 2024.
She also confirmed the importance of partnership in water resource management, given the implications of climate change and the increase in extreme weather phenomena, stating that both countries face similar challenges that require greater coordination, alongside enhancing collaboration in education and agricultural research.
Agricultural trade exchanges between Morocco and France continue to thrive, with prospects for further enhancement in both plant and animal sectors. Such meetings serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the strategic nature of the friendship and economic cooperation between the two countries.
