Inauguration of a New Fiber Optics Factory in Berrechid to Strengthen Digital Sovereignty and Create 165 Jobs
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, inaugurated the new industrial unit of FBR CABLES in Berrechid, specialized in the production of fiber optic cables and networking cables.
This project, which required a total investment of 200 million dirhams, aims to create 165 direct jobs. The industrial site spans 15,000 square meters, increasing the annual production capacity to 70,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables, which will cover about 60 percent of the national market needs estimated between 120,000 and 130,000 kilometers annually.
Mezzour emphasized that this 100 percent Moroccan industrial unit represents a strategic step to enhance the industrial and digital sovereignty of the Kingdom. It also contributes to strengthening the “Made in Morocco” brand and establishing the country as a regional export platform to African markets.
Meanwhile, the company’s General Manager, Youssef Jennat, stated that the factory is equipped with the latest technologies and relies on Moroccan talent and capital. He noted that the production includes fiber optic cables and networking cables of categories 6, 7, and 8, as well as advanced solutions for digital infrastructure.
The company aims to strengthen its presence in West Africa, currently exporting to several countries, including Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Gabon, as part of a South-South cooperation approach based on locally produced high value-added products.
Founded in 1991 in Bouskoura, the company currently provides 124 direct jobs and over 500 indirect jobs through its network of suppliers and partners. It also contributes to technology transfer and training of national competencies in partnership with key players in the telecommunications sector, including major operators such as Orange Morocco, Inwi, and Maroc Telecom.
