Almaty to Host the 2029 Asian Winter Games Following Neom’s Postponement
The Olympic Council of Asia announced yesterday that the next Asian Winter Games will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2029.
Originally, Saudi Arabia was set to host the event in Neom; however, the organization has been postponed last month due to delays in the delivery of the ski resort as part of the massive project, prompting officials to consider postponing the hosting for four years from the scheduled date.
The selection of Almaty as a substitute for Neom comes in the context of efforts to ensure the readiness of sports facilities and venues ahead of this significant continental sporting event.
