The second edition of the Moroccan Cultural Week in Mexico continues, having kicked off on Friday in Mexico City and moved on Monday to Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco, to complete its program of cultural and artistic activities running until January 31.
The evening in Villahermosa was attended by the governor of Tabasco, the mayor of the city, and several cultural, artistic, and political figures. The program featured a display of Moroccan caftans, performances by the “Abidat Rma” group, and a local mariachi band, alongside showcases highlighting Moroccan culinary arts, traditional crafts, and zellige.
Morocco’s ambassador in Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar, stated that organizing a Moroccan Cultural Week in Mexico reflects the kingdom’s commitment to sharing its rich heritage and cultural diversity with the Mexican people. He emphasized that the event serves as a moment for discovery and shared celebration, bringing a piece of Morocco’s spirit to Villahermosa, inviting attendees to visit the kingdom and experience its culture and hospitality.
Tabasco’s governor, Javier May Rodríguez, underscored the importance of such events in strengthening communication and understanding between the two peoples, leveraging shared values to deepen cultural ties.
Furthermore, Abd al-Rahim Al-Zamzami, President of the Traditional Crafts Chamber for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, highlighted that traditional crafts serve as a platform for dialogue between cultures, emphasizing the role of craftsmen in preserving heritage and fostering economic and social development.
In its final stop, the Moroccan Cultural Week will take place in Sonora, where Morocco participates as a guest of honor at the Alonso Ortiz Tirado Festival, organizing artistic and cultural displays that showcase the uniqueness of Moroccan culture in music, culinary arts, traditional clothing, and craftsmanship.
