Moroccan Minister of Endowments: The Moroccan community abroad is facing disturbances and temptations regarding its religious values.

The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, warned that the Moroccan community abroad is being subjected to disturbances and temptations that aim to alter its religious values. This statement was made during a session of oral questions in the House of Representatives, where the minister emphasized the importance of enhancing religious and media programs directed at Moroccans worldwide to preserve their religious identity.

In discussing the ministry’s programs, Toufiq revealed that the ministry is set to launch an online religious and media program specifically for the Moroccan community in an effort to counter external influences that may threaten their values.

Regarding mosques, the minister indicated that the ministry closes approximately 300 mosques annually for various reasons, the most significant being the deterioration of buildings, as part of its efforts to maintain the safety of religious facilities and ensure the continuity of spiritual activities.

Concerning the spread of certain non-traditional religious practices (Shiism) among community members, the minister stated that the issue has been exaggerated; however, he confirmed that there are real dangers that threaten the foundational beliefs of Moroccans abroad.
