Morocco Crowned Champion of North African Qualifiers in Egypt… Boys and Girls Secure Qualification for African School Finals
The North African qualifiers for the African School Championship concluded today, Tuesday, at the Egyptian Football Association’s National Teams Center in 6th of October City, with Morocco’s national team taking the title in both boys’ and girls’ categories, securing their passage to the final stage of the continental competition.
The closing ceremony was attended by several sports officials, including Mostafa Azam, Secretary General of the Egyptian Football Association, and Reda Karim, Executive Director of the North African Football Association, along with representatives from the Ministries of Education and Youth and Sports in Egypt. Awards were distributed to the teams and players in recognition of their technical performances and competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
This edition of the qualifiers saw the participation of over 120 players from the youth category, representing Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria, as part of an initiative aimed at promoting school football, nurturing emerging talents, and providing broader opportunities for development and engagement, under the oversight of the Confederation of African Football and the North African Football Association.
The event was not solely competitive; it also included a series of workshops and training activities covering various fields, including refereeing, coaching, sports media, and sports medicine, in addition to special programs focused on safeguarding, aimed at preparing a well-rounded generation of players, coaches, and future leaders.
Many participating children experienced memorable moments through the “African Football Legends” program, meeting former stars of Egyptian football, such as Essam El-Hadary, Wael Riad, and Sherif Abdul-Fadil, participating in play sessions with them, and engaging in technical workshops on the field, which concluded with commemorative photos.
This double crowning reflects the strong presence of Moroccan school football at the regional level and underscores the effectiveness of technical selections and foundational training programs, which are yielding tangible results and enhancing Morocco’s ambitions to continue excelling on the continental stage, starting from the youth categories.
