Morocco and Denmark Enhance Judicial and Security Cooperation Towards a Strategic Partnership

In line with the strategic vision of the Kingdom of Morocco to establish itself as a reliable partner in the field of justice and international judicial cooperation, and to strengthen its active presence within the cross-border security and justice systems, the Ministry of Justice received a high-level Danish delegation today during an official visit to the kingdom.

The delegation included Mikael Wern, the Chief of Police of Denmark, and Bjorn Sejr, the Danish Attorney General, along with several senior officials, with the aim of elevating bilateral cooperation to a strategic partnership based on mutual trust and aligned priorities.

The delegation was welcomed by Hicham Malati, Director of Criminal Affairs and Pardons, and Rima Lablaili, Director of International Cooperation and Communication at the Ministry of Justice, accompanied by ministry officials. The meeting provided an opportunity to affirm the shared political will to enhance judicial and security coordination between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Denmark.

Discussions focused on several key issues, notably comparing the judicial procedures adopted in both countries to enhance legislative convergence and exchange best practices, along with developing mechanisms for mutual legal assistance (MLA) to ensure efficiency and speed while respecting legal guarantees and human rights. The possibility of establishing joint committees was also addressed as a practical option reflecting the level of trust and integration between the two sides.

During this meeting, both parties emphasized that international judicial cooperation is no longer just a technical option, but has become a fundamental lever to address the challenges of organized crime, terrorism, and transnational financial crimes, thus serving security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

This meeting comes amidst the reformative dynamics within the justice sector in the Kingdom of Morocco, which views international judicial cooperation as a strategic tool to strengthen legal sovereignty, uphold judicial security, and reinforce the rule of law in a comprehensive and responsible manner.
