China Defends Trade Agreement with Canada
China confirmed on Monday that its recent preliminary trade agreement with Canada does not target “any third party,” following U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose 100% tariffs on Ottawa’s products if the deal is signed.
The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Geng Shuang, stated at a regular press conference: “China and Canada are building a new type of strategic partnership… This is not aimed at any third party; rather, it serves the common interests of both peoples and contributes to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the world.”
