Akhannouch: Morocco’s Success Confirms the Kingdom’s Readiness to Host the 2030 World Cup

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch affirmed that Morocco’s significant success in organizing the Africa Cup of Nations was not a coincidence, but rather the result of a strategic vision led by King Mohammed VI to build a “Morocco of the future.” He added that the kingdom presented a global edition that demonstrated its full readiness to host the 2030 World Cup.

During his response to the interventions of parliamentary groups in the House of Representatives, Akhannouch explained that the international feedback from the tournament had the world talking about Morocco as if it were hosting the “World Cup final.” He highlighted the testimonials from visitors and international influencers that showcased the true identity of the kingdom, describing Moroccan infrastructure, roads, and stadiums as being on par with the best globally.

In an implicit response to criticism, the Prime Minister noted that the field was the ultimate judge, citing the resilience of Moroccan stadiums against heavy rainfall during the tournament. He stated, “We worked and played in our stadiums day and night under the rain, and we were not disappointed… this test alone is enough as proof of the effectiveness of our programs.”

He emphasized that the royal message directed to the participants was profound, and the major investments and exceptional sports management in the country were a result of royal will, making the Moroccan edition of the tournament the most successful in African competition history.

Regarding the performance of the national team, Akhannouch praised the players’ spirit, affirming that football is “about wins and losses,” and that results do not always reflect the effort put in, expressing his regret over the “Atlas Lions” exiting the tournament. He extended special greetings to star Ibrahim Diaz, describing him as “the discovery of the tournament and its top scorer,” and commended his choice to represent Morocco, saying, “You did not just join the national team; you entered the hearts of all Moroccans.”

Akhannouch concluded by reiterating that Morocco, thanks to its impeccable organization and dignified image, is no longer just leading African sports, but is also confidently ready to host major events like the 2030 World Cup.
