Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch arrived today in Davos, Switzerland, to represent Morocco at the 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, which will run until January 23. This year’s event features significant participation from around 400 political leaders from across the globe, including approximately 65 heads of state and government.

Akhannouch is leading an official delegation that includes, notably, Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah, along with the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Development of Investments and Exports, Ali Sadiki. This Moroccan participation aims to reinforce the kingdom’s presence in major international economic discussions.

The 2026 Davos Forum is themed “The Spirit of Dialogue,” featuring nearly 3,000 figures from more than 130 countries amid a delicate international context marked by rapid geopolitical, technological, and social transformations.

This year’s session boasts an unprecedented level of governmental presence, with six leaders from the G7, 55 finance ministers, 33 foreign ministers, and 34 trade ministers attending. Additionally, there are 11 central bank governors, approximately 850 CEOs of major global companies, and 100 founders of startups and tech leaders.

The forum presents itself as a neutral ground for dialogue and cooperation, bringing together public decision-makers, business leaders, civil society representatives, international organizations, and academic circles to formulate practical solutions to global challenges.

The agenda of the 2026 session, building on over five decades of dialogue between the public and private sectors, focuses on seeking long-term solutions to interconnected issues while exploring new avenues for growth, resilience, and sustainable positive impact.

Discussions are expected to center on ways to renew international cooperation amid strained standards, pressures from alliances, and declining levels of trust, as well as envisioning new collaborative models in the face of redefined concepts of security, sovereignty, and global integration.

The talks will also address the management of geopolitical risks and economic uncertainty, the responsible exploitation of innovation, particularly emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence, and finding pathways to enhance competitiveness and inclusive growth.

The humanitarian aspect will be strongly highlighted in this session, with a focus on investing in skills, adapting the labor market, and improving welfare, alongside discussions on how to rebuild prosperity while respecting environmental balances through more sustainable energy, nature, and water systems.
