The House of Representatives approved, on Monday evening, the new law No. 59.21 concerning school education, with a majority of 90 votes in favor and 38 votes against.

The objective of this law is to regulate the operation of the school education system in the coming years, in accordance with a vision that responds to the technological, social, and economic transformations taking place in Morocco.

Aoun, the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, stated that the initiative aims to establish an open and fair school system based on equality and quality of learning. It also seeks to modernize the legislative framework regarding the mandatory nature of basic education, preschool education, and private education, aligning it with the new provisions of the framework law 51-17.

The minister explained that the preparation of the project was conducted through a participatory approach, relying on national references guiding the reform, primarily the constitution, royal directives, and the strategic vision for reform 2015-2030, thereby implementing Article 17 of the framework law concerning the education and training system and scientific research.
