On the upcoming Thursday, the Government Council will convene under the chairmanship of Aziz Akhannouch, the Prime Minister.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s office indicated that the council will initially discuss a draft law aimed at transforming the National Ports Agency into a joint-stock company, alongside amendments to the ports law, and the establishment of the National Ports Agency and a port operating company.

The statement further noted that the council will continue its session by examining twelve draft decrees, with the first eleven pertaining to the determination of the actual commencement date for the operational functions of local health groups across the various regions of the Kingdom. The final draft decree will address amendments to the decree concerning the application of value-added tax, as stipulated in Section Three of the General Tax Code.

Subsequently, the council will deliberate on a mutual customs cooperation agreement between the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration of Morocco and the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority of Saudi Arabia. This agreement aims for mutual recognition of the approved economic operator program by each party, signed in Mecca on March 5, 2025, alongside a draft law endorsing the aforementioned agreement.

The same source indicated that the council will conclude its work by reviewing proposals for appointments to senior positions in accordance with the provisions of Article 92 of the Constitution.
