The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has signed a historic media agreement with Channel 4, granting it exclusive broadcasting rights for all matches of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. This marks the first time the United Kingdom will enjoy free access to the continent’s largest football competition.

A total of 52 matches will be broadcast across Channel 4’s networks—including Channel 4, E4, 4Seven, the Channel 4 Streaming platform, and the Channel 4 Sport YouTube channel—making the tournament accessible to millions of British viewers and enhancing its presence in one of the largest football markets globally.

The tournament will kick off on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Morocco, featuring 24 teams competing in nine stadiums, concluding on January 18, 2026.

Veron Mosengo-Omba, the secretary-general of CAF, stated that this agreement represents an unprecedented milestone in the tournament’s history, ensuring it reaches every British household. He emphasized that this interest reflects the growing global stature of the Africa Cup of Nations and that the partnership with Channel 4 will benefit both parties while contributing to the tournament’s global appeal.

Peter Andrews, Head of Sport at Channel 4, expressed pride in exclusively broadcasting the tournament. He noted that the participation of many Premier League stars makes this event a golden opportunity for football fans. He highlighted that the appearance of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah on the channel on Boxing Day would be the perfect compensation for fans amid a decline in Premier League match coverage during that period.

The tournament will feature some of the top players from the Premier League, including:

– Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush representing Egypt
– Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon), Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast), Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco) from Manchester United
– Everton’s Senegalese duo Eliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye
– Fulham’s Nigerian duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey
– Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham (Democratic Republic of Congo)
– Ismaïla Sarr from Crystal Palace (Senegal)
– Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu from Wolverhampton (Ivory Coast)

This agreement is the result of collaboration between CAF and IMG, the international agency responsible for broadcasting and sponsorship rights, in a move that enhances the tournament’s global reach and brings it prominently to football fans in the United Kingdom for the first time.
