Film Production Support Committee Reveals Results of the Third Session for 2025 and Distributes Support to Dozens of Moroccan Projects

The third session of the Film Production Support Committee for the year 2025 was held between December 11 and 21, chaired by Amin Nasour, with the participation of members from the industry and experts in the cinematic field.

During this session, the committee reviewed a significant number of projects vying for support, including feature and short films, documentaries, as well as screenplay writing and rewriting projects, with a special focus on documentaries related to culture, history, and the Sahrawi region.

A total of 51 projects were submitted for support in feature-length films, both fictional and documentary, 8 short film projects, along with 20 screenplay proposals. Additionally, the committee discussed the post-production applications for one feature-length film, two short films, and one documentary about culture, history, and the Sahrawi region.

In terms of advances on post-production revenues, the committee decided to grant support of 100,000 dirhams each to the two short films “Regret” by Abdelilah Moujane and “Unknown Number” by Hamid Ouidri, while the documentary “Lagdir” by director Hafid Malain received a grant of 200,000 dirhams.

For pre-production advances, the feature film project “Tristesse Sans Cours” by Nabil Ayouch topped the list of beneficiaries with 3.7 million dirhams, followed by “Okacha de Pâtissières” by Kamal Kamal with a support amount of 3.5 million dirhams.

Other feature film projects benefited from support ranging between 2.5 and 3.1 million dirhams, including works by Abdelilah Zaïrât, Abdelilah Jouhari, Salma Barkach, and Rabi Chajid. In the short film category, 200,000 dirhams were allocated to both “War of the Tiles” by Rachid Ait Daoud and “Guilty Souls” by Naïma Ziani.

Regarding screenplay writing support, the committee allocated amounts ranging from 80,000 to 100,000 dirhams to various feature and documentary projects, developed by Sara Salmi, Mohamed Hicham Rkraki, Zakiya al-Hamdi, Kenza Al-Tazi, and Mounia Al-Koumi. Additionally, support for rewriting feature film screenplays amounted between 80,000 to 90,000 dirhams per project.

As for documentaries related to culture, history, and the Sahrawi region during pre-production, six projects received financial support ranging from 750,000 to 800,000 dirhams, including “The Gold,” “Diloul,” “Al-Kobania,” “Lady Arkan in the Desert,” and “Paco,” alongside a 50,000 dirham allocation for rewriting the documentary screenplay “Journey of the Terfas.”

At the conclusion of its proceedings, the committee confirmed that the supported projects reflect a diversity in themes and artistic visions, with a strong presence of documentaries and original cinema, in line with its objective to support Moroccan cinematic creativity and enhance its prominence both nationally and internationally.
