Rabat Hosts the Third Edition of the Moroccan Forum on Cultural and Creative Industries

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the third edition of the Moroccan Forum on Cultural and Creative Industries (FOMICC) was opened yesterday in Rabat, organized with the support of the European Union and the French Institute in Morocco, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication.

The forum aims to enhance the status of cultural and creative industries as a promising economic sector that contributes to job creation and the development of an economy based on creativity.

Culture and Communication Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid explained that artists, writers, and creators are indeed contributing to the growth of global cultural industries, emphasizing the need to “stop their creative migration,” similar to efforts to combat brain drain, through the development of cultural and creative industries in Africa. He added that this forum embodies a national Moroccan ambition and a continental African vision to make cultural and creative industries a driver of the economy.

For his part, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, Younes Skouri, affirmed that cultural and creative industries possess significant potential and promising capabilities, making them a key driver for employment and a means of enhancing Morocco’s creative influence on both regional and international levels.

International attendees, such as Agnès Humblot, the Director of the French Institute in Morocco, and European Union diplomat Danièle Duto, highlighted Morocco’s pivotal role in this rapid global transformation, pointing out that the Kingdom, thanks to its vibrant youth and interest in innovation, can play a leading role in cultural and creative industries.

The forum concluded with discussions and workshops focusing on topics such as funding for creative entrepreneurship, exportation, professional mobility, and African cooperation, aimed at fostering a shared vision for 2030 and developing the sector locally and internationally.
