Morocco and Mauritania Enhance Cooperation in Artificial Insemination to Support Food Security
An intensive training course in artificial insemination concluded today, Saturday, December 13, 2023, at the Technical and Vocational Center for Animal Production Development (ZOOPOLE) in Casablanca, benefiting 14 Mauritanian professionals. This initiative is part of strengthening Moroccan-Mauritanian cooperation in training and capacity building, aimed at enhancing food security and promoting South-South cooperation dynamics.
The course was organized by the Moroccan Association for Animal Production Management (AMAZO) in partnership with the National Office for Research and Development of Livestock Resources and the Pastoral System in Mauritania (ONARDEP), with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The program included advanced theoretical and practical content aimed at developing the technical skills of participants and enhancing their professional competencies, thereby increasing their readiness to implement artificial insemination programs according to the latest scientific standards and international practices in animal breeding and production.
Moroccan experts, specializing in the field, facilitated the course, sharing their field and knowledge experiences with Mauritanian professionals, focusing on adapting the Moroccan experience to the environmental and production specifics of Mauritania.
Organizers confirmed that participants would immediately begin fieldwork upon their return to implement artificial insemination operations, enhancing herd productivity and strengthening sustainability in livestock development, thus contributing to food security efforts in Mauritania.
This cooperation embodies the commitment of both countries to strengthen South-South partnerships through investment in training and knowledge transfer, considered a key lever for developing agricultural and livestock systems and supporting joint development in the region.
