Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit held a wide-ranging meeting today, Friday, in Rabat, with the presidents of the twelve regions, attended by governors, to discuss the new generation of integrated regional development programs being prepared in line with royal directives.

This meeting continues a series of consultations that began in mid-October across various provinces and regions of the kingdom, which sparked extensive discussions involving civil society representatives, elected officials, and local actors, aimed at shaping a more coherent and inclusive developmental vision.

According to the data presented during the meeting, the preparation of these programs has reached advanced stages, particularly concerning territorial assessments, the identification of key indicators, and the precise targeting of the needs of regional contexts.

During this meeting, Laftit emphasized that the regions are a central player in this initiative, given their legal competencies in economic development, rural development, the environment, employment, and vocational training—areas that form the backbone of the new regional development programs.

The outcomes of this participatory process are expected to serve as the foundation for a new generation of regional policies that respond to the specificities of each region and keep pace with the social and economic transformations occurring in Morocco.
