In commemoration of International Human Rights Day, the journalist union in the Al-Jadida region has chosen to celebrate with the Bar Association of Al-Jadida and Sidi Bennour, recognizing its significant role in defending freedoms and protecting journalists.
In this context, the union president, Hamza Roujaig, paid a courtesy visit to the Bar Association’s headquarters, where he presented the journalist union’s award to the president, Ahmed Boustali, in the presence of several distinguished members of the Bar Council.
In his speech on this occasion, Hamza Roujaig emphasized that celebrating this international day involves honoring “the largest human rights entity with a rich history in defending rights and freedoms, especially freedom of expression, and supporting journalists in fulfilling their noble mission.” He added that collaboration between the media and human rights sectors is a fundamental pillar for instilling democratic values and advancing press freedom.
For his part, Bar Association President Ahmed Boustali expressed his pride in this initiative, considering that journalism “is a noble profession that requires collective efforts to enhance it and ensure professional practice conditions.” He also stressed the importance of strengthening collaborative ties between the union and the Bar, highlighting the willingness of the latter to provide the lawyer’s house for journalists to benefit from its facilities within the framework of constructive partnerships.
This meeting reflects both institutions’ commitment to developing professional and legal relationships and enhancing cooperation mechanisms to serve the issues of freedom of expression and promote a culture of human rights within society.
