Huawei Mobilizes African Leaders to Drive Digital Transformation and Address Connectivity Gap
Huawei is ramping up its efforts to accelerate digital transformation across the African continent by gathering around 600 influential figures, including senior government officials, industry leaders, and development partners, at the African Investment Forum held in Rabat on November 26 and 27, 2025. The event served as a platform for exchanging insights on leveraging modern technologies and digital infrastructure to support inclusive and sustainable growth.
As the pace of digital transformation accelerates globally, Africa continues to face significant challenges in accessing reliable communication networks, which deprives millions of citizens of opportunities to benefit from the digital economy. In this context, Chris Ming, Huawei’s Marketing and Solutions President for North Africa, presented the company’s new vision titled “The Four Innovations” during the session on “Digital Transformation in Africa.” This vision includes the development of advanced infrastructure based on fast networks, cloud computing, smart technologies, and digital financial services as foundational elements for effective digital transitions.
The session featured several African officials, including Abdallah Ould Slimane Ould Cheikh Sidia, Mauritania’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, and Ismail Nabi, Guinea’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, along with representatives from financial and industrial institutions such as the African Development Bank. They unanimously agreed that investment in human capital, expansion of digital infrastructure, and strengthening strategic partnerships are crucial factors in creating a more competitive digital African economy.
Minister Ould Cheikh Sidia emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors to build an integrated digital ecosystem within national policies. Minister Nabi regarded digital capabilities as a fundamental pillar for accelerating economic and social progress. Meanwhile, the African Development Bank underscored the importance of investing in connectivity as a cornerstone for any profound economic transformation.
Colin Hu, Head of Enterprise Solutions at Huawei North Africa, stated:
“From the digital divide to digital opportunities, and from infrastructure to comprehensive value, Africa is today writing a new chapter in the digital age.”
The following day, Huawei continued to promote the discussion with a session titled “Together, We Build an Inclusive Digital Africa,” during which it showcased extensive initiatives to empower populations to access digital services. Jason Yi, Huawei North Africa’s Chief Digital Officer, presented the “Five Comprehensive Solutions” program, focused on enhancing access to technology, ensuring affordable pricing, boosting resilience, supporting sustainability, and fostering innovation within the African digital ecosystem.
The events concluded with participants agreeing that Africa’s digital future is rich with broad opportunities and that building a more connected and prosperous continent requires deepening cooperation between the public and private sectors while directing investments toward strategically valuable infrastructures to solidify Africa’s position in the global digital economy.
