Heavy snowfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds are affecting several regions of the kingdom (warning bulletin)
The General Directorate of Meteorology has reported that several areas of the kingdom will experience severe weather conditions, starting today, Tuesday, and lasting until Thursday. This includes significant snowfall and sporadic thunderstorms, accompanied locally by hail and strong gusts of wind.
In a red alert warning, the Directorate expects heavy snowfall starting from an altitude of 1,800 meters, with accumulations ranging between 50 and 80 centimeters in the regions of Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Khenifra, Midelt, and Azilal, from today at 10 a.m. until midday tomorrow, Wednesday.
In an orange alert bulletin, meteorological forecasts predict snowfall beginning at 1,400 meters, with depths ranging from 25 to 50 centimeters in the regions of Ifrane, Chichaoua, Béni Mellal, Taroudant, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Khenifra, Midelt, and Azilal, while accumulations will range from 10 to 30 centimeters in the areas of Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Jerada, Taza, and Boulemane during the same period.
Thunderstorms are also anticipated, potentially accompanied by hail, with rainfall expected to reach between 40 and 50 millimeters in the regions of Azilal, Chefchaouen, Wazan, and Al Haouz, and between 30 and 40 millimeters in many regions, including Tangier-Asilah, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, Fez, Meknes, Kenitra, Safi, El Jadida, Salé, and Temara, today from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Directorate added that rain will also affect the regions of Benslimane, Khouribga, Settat, Berrechid, and Khemisset, with amounts ranging from 35 to 45 millimeters until morning tomorrow, while 35 to 50 millimeters are expected in several regions in the eastern part of the country, including Taza, Oujda, Jerada, Nador, and Al Hoceima, from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning.
In the same context, strong wind gusts are expected, with speeds ranging from 75 to 85 kilometers per hour in several southern, central, and eastern regions, including Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Guelmim, Tiznit, Azilal, Midelt, Jerada, and Tinghir, from today until tomorrow morning.
The General Directorate of Meteorology urges citizens to exercise caution, especially in mountainous areas and on mountain roads, and to follow official bulletins in anticipation of any potential developments.
