Snow, Thunderstorms, and Strong Winds Threaten Several Regions in Morocco in the Coming Days

The Directorate General of Meteorology has announced the expected snowfall and occasionally heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, alongside strong wind gusts, starting today, Monday, until next Wednesday across various regions of the kingdom, issuing an orange alert for heightened vigilance.

The Directorate clarified that snow will be observed at altitudes of 1500 meters, with expected accumulations ranging from 20 to 40 cm in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Ifrane, Sefrou, and Taza, and from 5 to 15 cm in the provinces of Taourirt, Jerada, Al Hoceima, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Figuig, and Chefchaouen, from Monday at 10:30 AM until Tuesday at 11 PM.

Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected occasionally with thunderstorms (40 to 70 mm) in the provinces of Taza, Larache, Wazan, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, Fahs-Anjra, Mdiq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Ifrane, Kenitra, Taounate, and Chefchaouen from Tuesday midnight until Wednesday at 6 AM.

In regions including Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Ben Slimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Naciria, Khemisset, Rabat-Salé, Temara, Meknes, El Hajeb, Fez, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Khenifra, Khouribga, and Settat, rainfall is anticipated to range between 25 and 35 mm from Tuesday noon until Wednesday at 6 AM.

The bulletin also pointed out that strong winds (75 to 85 km/h) are expected across the provinces of Tinghir, Sidi Ifni, Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Guelmim, and Ouarzazate today, Monday, from 10:30 AM to 10 PM.
