In the city of Kelaat Sraghna, the women of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) have launched an initiative titled “Empowerment for Effective and Continuous Representation.” This initiative is a partnership with the Support Fund for Encouraging Women’s Representation and is in coordination with the party’s regional secretariat, all part of a continuous effort to enhance women’s political participation aimed at achieving gender parity.
The meeting was attended by prominent party leaders, elected officials, and experts in local governance, and was characterized by a serious and responsible atmosphere. It began with the recitation of verses from the Quran, followed by the national anthem, before moving on to the opening session.
In this context, Fatima Saadi, a member of the party’s collective leadership, emphasized that empowering women politically is no longer a temporary option but a fundamental pillar for building equitable development. She stressed the importance of investing in training for elected women and strengthening their capabilities to fulfill their responsibilities efficiently and responsibly.
For his part, Abdel Rahim Ouamrou, a parliamentary representative for the Sraghna Zmran district, highlighted the importance of training caravans in raising elected women’s awareness of their constitutional and legal roles, considering that women’s political participation is a cornerstone for strengthening democratic practice at both local and national levels.
Additionally, Salah Eddine Ouamrou, the regional secretary of PAM in Kelaat Sraghna, asserted that the party sees women as pivotal players in implementing local public policies. He confirmed the regional secretariat’s commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility of women within elected institutions.
In a similar vein, Thoria Khalifi, a member of the Marrakech-Safi Regional Council and head of the party’s team in the region, pointed out that the real challenge today lies not in mere numbers but in transitioning from numerical representation to impactful political action. She emphasized that continuous training and the exchange of experiences are essential for creating women’s participation capable of meeting citizens’ expectations.
On a structural level, this station featured a presentation on the latest developments in local governance in light of the regulatory laws governing local communities, along with interactive training workshops focusing on essential skills for collective governance and mechanisms for political participation. There was also a practical workshop on budget formulation for the municipality, aimed at strengthening the competencies of elected women and supporting their capacity for effective teamwork.
The event concluded with an interactive working session dedicated to sharing the outcomes of the workshops and fostering a direct discussion about the practical challenges women face within elected councils, reflecting the caravan’s commitment to a participatory approach based on training, interaction, and accumulation.
