Fes Prefecture: Latest Official Update on the Tragedy of the Building Collapse – 22 Dead and 16 Injured
Local authorities in the Fes Prefecture reported that the death toll from the collapse of two residential buildings in the Al-Mustaqbal neighborhood of the urban area Masira, during the night of Tuesday-Wednesday, December 9-10, 2025, has risen to 22 fatalities and 16 individuals with varying degrees of injuries, following the completion of search and debris removal operations at the scene of the incident.
Preliminary data indicated that the two buildings were constructed in 2006 as part of self-construction projects for residents of the Ain Sliman area, under the “Fes Without Slums” program.
In this context, the relevant public prosecutor’s office is overseeing a judicial investigation into the incident, while administrative investigations and technical expertise by a specialized consultancy are underway to determine the technical reasons for the buildings’ collapse and uncover any procedural or organizational discrepancies in the field of urban planning and construction.
These investigations aim to clarify the extent of administrative and technical responsibilities arising from this tragic event and provide the public with accurate results concerning the circumstances of the incident.
