During the visit, the governor observed the worrying situation of the Sidi Idris dam, which has seen a significant decrease in its filling percentage due to years of drought, leading to sediment accumulation. He emphasized the need for effective technical and environmental solutions that consider the specific characteristics of the watershed to preserve this vital resource.
The municipality of Saur Al-Ez was another key stop on the tour, where the governor inspected its natural and touristic attractions that provide promising opportunities for developing mountain and eco-tourism. He highlighted the importance of creating new tourism trails to boost the local economy.
In the spiritual and cultural realm, Mr. El Yazidi visited the shrines of Sidi Idris and Sidi Bou Bakr. He noted the deteriorating condition of the buildings and called for urgent interventions to restore them and preserve this religious and historical heritage within a balanced developmental perspective.
Furthermore, he monitored the progress of the rehabilitation works at the Saur Al-Ez health center, stressing the importance of speeding up the work and improving service quality to ensure better access to healthcare for the local population.
Regarding infrastructure, he checked ongoing works on National Road No. 23 between kilometers 201 and 245, recognizing it as a strategic axis for improving mobility and enhancing connectivity between municipalities.
Mr. El Yazidi concluded his tour with a visit to a farm and an olive oil production unit in the Taboussit area of Ouled Omar. He familiarized himself with the production stages and acknowledged the economic role of this unit in supporting the olive sector and creating new job opportunities.
