Aziz Akhannouch chaired a meeting this Wednesday morning in Rabat to present the strategic plan for the National Company for the Development and Management of Sports Facilities (Sonarges) and to monitor several key projects related to the rehabilitation of sports infrastructure nationwide. The meeting was attended by Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Sadek Berada.

The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of Sonarges’ directions for the upcoming period. The company’s joint administration director, Youssef Belqasmi, presented a detailed outline of the new strategic plan, which focuses on enhancing accumulated gains, strengthening human resources, expanding the company’s geographical presence across various regions of the kingdom, and developing new services aimed at benefiting the local population.

Belqasmi highlighted the progress made in the rehabilitation projects for sports stadiums in preparation for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the World Cup 2030, underscoring the governance system in place and the technical, administrative, and financial monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance with project timelines and quality standards. He also emphasized the importance of coordination between Sonarges, relevant ministries, and institutional and athletic partners.

For his part, the Prime Minister reminded attendees of the special attention given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the sports sector, through mobilizing necessary resources to develop and equip sports infrastructure across various regions. Akhannouch called for the acceleration of Sonarges’ operations under this strategic plan to initiate a new phase for national sports facilities, making them a genuine driver for integrated territorial development.

It is worth noting that the National Company for the Development and Management of Sports Facilities, established in 2008, currently oversees more than 78 sports facilities distributed across six regions of the kingdom.
