Rachid Talbi Alami, President of the House of Representatives, is leading a delegation from the Moroccan Parliament to participate in the 47th conference of Presidents of Parliaments and the 84th session of the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, from November 18 to 22.
A parliamentary statement mentioned that the conference will focus on three key issues related to supporting the national sovereignty of African countries for sustainable development, the challenges of energy transition, and the development of renewable energy in Africa, as well as good governance in the digital realm to serve women’s rights.
The conference will also discuss several issues, decisions, and recommendations included in the agenda for the 84th session of the Executive Committee, as well as the program for the closing session of the conference, where the presidency of the Union will transition to the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the 2025-2027 term.
The Moroccan delegation includes members of the Moroccan National Section of the African Parliamentary Union, comprising deputies Hatem Ben Rqia, Said Bakri, Nadia Benzedfa (Secretary of the House of Representatives), Idriss Chebchali, Madiha Khair, Abdelilah Amhadi, Aouicha Zoulfa, and parliamentary advisors Said Chaker and Mohamed Harmat Makhoul.
The African Parliamentary Union, established on February 13, 1976, with its headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, is a continental parliamentary organization that unites the parliaments of African countries. It aims to unify all African national parliamentary institutions, facilitate communication among African parliamentarians and between them and other parliamentarians worldwide, as well as contribute to strengthening African parliamentary institutions, advancing and consolidating democracy, and achieving stability and peace.
