Ministers of Agriculture and Investment in Fes-Meknes: The Path of Achievements Continues and Great Opportunities Await the Region

In his speech during the “Path of Achievements” forum in the Taza community of the Fes-Meknes region, Ahmed Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, emphasized that the region is endowed with significant agricultural resources. He commended the strategic reform process that began with the “Green Morocco” initiative, which transformed agriculture into a productive and sustainable project. The results of Aziz Akhannouch’s tenure as Minister of Agriculture are still evident today.

Bouari pointed out that the road to reform is long and requires perseverance, reiterating that water remains a national priority. He advocated for a responsible water policy in line with His Majesty the King’s directives to ensure access to potable water for all Moroccans through major projects. In this context, 25,000 hectares in the region have been equipped with drip irrigation. The minister also addressed the reconstitution of the national herd with a budget of 12.8 billion dirhams, noting that 4 billion dirhams have been allocated as support to breeders over three weeks, benefiting 75% of small farmers in the region, with five million heads of livestock being tagged.

For his part, Karim Zidan, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Policy Coordination, and Public Policy Evaluation, affirmed that investment is a strategic option for the state. He highlighted the opening of a new company in the textile and sewing sector in the Fes region, which is expected to bring about a qualitative shift in production and attract other companies. He explained that His Majesty the King’s directives are clear in supporting investment, creating jobs for youth, and stimulating productive projects.

Zidan noted that the region will witness significant progress thanks to the Nador port, which will serve as a gateway to new horizons, along with agricultural product processing factories coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture, which will contribute to job creation and bolster the local economy.
