The General Directorate of National Security adopts a new structure and strategic appointments

In a move aimed at keeping pace with the economic and service expansion and demographic growth in the kingdom, the General Directorate of National Security has decided to strengthen its organizational structure at Rabat-Salé Airport and expand the intervention scope of its security teams across several cities to ensure effective security coverage and improve services provided to citizens.

The decision has been made to elevate the National Security services at Rabat-Salé Airport from a special police station to a security area, along with the enhancement of human and logistical resources, and the establishment of operational teams and specialized units. This measure comes in response to the significant expansion being witnessed at the air border crossing, ensuring effective security support for economic and service growth.

The Directorate also announced the establishment of second teams to combat gangs in the Security Provinces of Marrakech and Fes, to strengthen existing regular teams and raise the readiness of the units responsible for crime prevention and suppression, thereby enhancing security coverage and ensuring crime deterrence, in addition to bolstering citizens’ sense of security.

As part of this new structural organization, the Directorate issued a list of appointments that included the promotion of the former head of the special police station to the position of head of a security area, alongside the appointment of four heads for various departments at Rabat-Salé Airport, aligning with the new structure and enhancing security performance.

The new appointments, announced by the Director General of National Security Abdellatif Hammouchi, also included eight additional positions in the decentralized national security services in the cities of Marrakech, Fes, Safi, Beni Mellal, and Casablanca. Among these are the appointments of heads for the two secondary anti-gang teams, a deputy head for the Beni Mellal Security Area, the head of the provincial police social service in Settat, in addition to heads for the Safi Port Police Station and the traffic unit at the Casablanca Port, along with two security personnel heading two police districts in the Casablanca Security Province.

These appointments are part of a continuous dynamic aimed at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of police human resources by facilitating the rotation of leadership positions and assigning operational management of police facilities to highly qualified security competencies capable of executing work plans aimed at enhancing citizen security and ensuring the safety of their property.
