The European Union reiterated today, Friday, its firm stance against recognizing the so-called “Sahrawi Republic,” emphasizing that the participation of this entity in meetings between the EU and the African Union does not alter this position.

The spokesperson for the EU’s foreign affairs spoke during the daily press briefing of the European Commission, stating that summits and ministerial meetings are organized and managed jointly by the EU and the African Union, with each party responsible for inviting its members, while invitations directed to African states are sent by the African Union.

The spokesperson added that the presence of the alleged entity at any level in the meetings, whether at the ministerial level or among heads of state and governments, does not affect the EU’s unwavering position, conveying a clear message ahead of the scheduled EU-African Union summit from November 24 to 27 in Luanda, Angola.
