The direct support program for livestock breeders is nearing 80% of its beneficiaries.
Mustafa Baitas, the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, revealed that the direct support program for breeders has made significant progress since its launch, indicating that the percentage of beneficiaries has approached 80% of total registered breeders.
During a press conference following a government council meeting, Baitas explained that the figures related to direct support for livestock breeders and feed prices have shown improvement compared to the previous week, due to the increasing demand for this program, which is part of the implementation of the royal directives of King Mohammed VI aimed at supporting the national herd and maintaining production chains.
The government official pointed out that the support operation has been mobilized with a total financial package of 12.8 billion dirhams, divided into two equal tranches of 6 billion dirhams each, allocated to secure feed and preserve female sheep and goats.
Baitas confirmed that the number of beneficiaries, as of November 19, 2025, reached 756,000 breeders, exceeding 77% of the total number of breeders registered in the national herd restructuring program, adding that the total support received by these breeders amounts to 3 billion and 172 million dirhams.
The government spokesperson added that the first phase of the program, launched by King Mohammed VI, is currently being implemented, with the transition to the second phase planned for the upcoming period to ensure the continuity of support and expand its impact on the protection of the national herd.
The program is based on the results of the national livestock census conducted between June 26 and August 11, 2025, which covered the entire national territory, enabling breeders to receive direct support for purchasing feed and preserving breeding females, provided that the livestock is numbered and included in the census.
Regarding the value of support, the Ministry of Agriculture established differential amounts based on the number of heads. For sheep, breeders receive 150 dirhams per head for the first ten heads, 125 dirhams per head for 11 to 50 heads, 100 dirhams per head for 51 to 100 heads, and 75 dirhams per head for those exceeding 100 heads.
For goats, breeders benefit from 100 dirhams per head for the first ten, 85 dirhams per head for 11 to 50, 75 dirhams per head for 51 to 100, 60 dirhams per head for 101 to 200, and 50 dirhams per head for those above that number.
Regarding cows and camels, breeders receive 400 dirhams per head for the first five heads, 350 dirhams per head for 6 to 10 heads, 300 dirhams per head for 11 to 50, 200 dirhams per head for 51 to 100, and 150 dirhams per head for those exceeding 100 heads.
The support program also allocates a special grant for preserving female sheep and goats designated for breeding, which were counted during the period from June 26 to August 11, 2025, and are numbered, with the grant set at 400 dirhams for each female sheep and 300 dirhams for each female goat.
