Sghroushni Urges Accountants to Fully Embrace Digital Transformation and the Rise of Artificial Intelligence

The Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal Filah Sghroushni, affirmed yesterday in Rabat that accountants must deeply engage in digital transformation and keep pace with the rapid developments in artificial intelligence.

During the opening of the 10th conference of the national accounting body, held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, Talent: A Winning Strategy,” the minister highlighted that artificial intelligence is reshaping the accounting profession. She explained that optical character recognition (OCR) technologies and advanced algorithms now allow for automated processing of documents and invoices, freeing human resources from routine tasks and directing them towards consulting, analysis, and decision support.

Sghroushni reminded attendees that Morocco has taken a significant step in its digital journey by launching the first phase of the national 5G network on November 7, 2025, an advancement that bolsters the Kingdom’s position as a key player in digital transformation at the continental and regional levels.

The minister emphasized that digitization opens new horizons, but integrating artificial intelligence has become essential for developing public services and raising their quality. In this context, she referred to several structural projects, including the D4SD Center established in partnership with the United Nations Development Program as a regional platform for sustainable digital cooperation. Furthermore, she discussed the first national symposium on artificial intelligence that laid the foundations for a national roadmap based on trust, transparency, and efficiency, along with the establishment of the JAZARI Institute and the introduction of a dedicated artificial intelligence directorate within the ministry.

Regarding sustainability, Sghroushni confirmed that it has become a fundamental requirement for accessing global markets, urging companies to enhance practices that combine economic performance with social and environmental responsibility.

For his part, the President of the national accounting body, Faisal Mekouar, stated that the 10th conference represents a new milestone for the profession, characterized by foresight, protection, and support, reiterating that technology must remain at the service of humanity, not vice versa.

The event honored prominent figures in the field of accounting, including founding members of the body: Hamad Jouhari, Al Arabi Al Ouafi, Aziz Baida, Miloud Stouti, and Samir Al-Qoumi; in addition to Sofia Gassous, for her contributions to training, and Leila Al-Andalusi for her professional commitment.

This conference, focused on digitization and skill development, aims to enhance the role of accountants in national discussions and to keep pace with the rapid transformations of an economic environment that requires greater innovation and turning figures into added value for the economy and trust.
