“National Industry Barometer 2025” Highlights the Growing Presence of Moroccan Women in the Industrial Sector

The 2025 National Industry Barometer report emphasizes the increasing role of Moroccan women in the industrial sector, both in terms of employment and leadership, reflecting the social and productive transformations taking place in Morocco.

The data indicates that the number of women working in industry has exceeded 300,000, representing about one-third of the industrial workforce, with a noticeable increase in female leadership and managerial roles, particularly in the textile, food processing, and chemical sectors.

Industrial institutions have seen a rise in the rate of female leadership, especially in medium-sized enterprises characterized by a greater diversity in management structures. The report asserts that progress has not only been quantitative, but also qualitative, encompassing decision-making roles, including technical research and financial and administrative management of industrial companies.

In the pharmaceutical sector, women constitute more than 45% of the total workforce, due to the high scientific and technical nature of this field, while the textile and garment sector continues to absorb the largest percentage of female labor.

Regional indicators show variations across regions, with the Casablanca-Settat and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra regions leading in female participation rates in industrial work. Meanwhile, the southern regions exhibit steady growth rates, reflecting a balanced expansion of women’s participation on a national level.

The report emphasizes that strengthening women’s roles in industry is one of the key pillars for a transition towards sustainable and inclusive development, given its direct impact on productivity and innovation. It calls for continued efforts to empower women through training, entrepreneurial support, and institutional parity, to ensure their effective participation at all levels of the industrial sector.
