Mishustin: Cooperation Between Russia and China Flourishes Despite Global Instability

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin confirmed that economic cooperation between Russia and China continues to grow and develop despite the prevailing instability in the world.

Mishustin made his remarks during the thirtieth regular meeting of the heads of government of the two countries, held on Monday in Hangzhou, China, in the presence of his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang.

The Russian official stated that his country and Beijing are launching major strategic projects that include the development of oil and gas fields, the production of high-tech equipment, and cooperation in the fields of energy, peaceful nuclear energy, and space exploration, alongside joint programs in aircraft and automotive industries, the development of transportation corridors, and work in extreme polar environments.

Mishustin highlighted Russia’s readiness to increase food product exports to China, particularly those seeing rising demand among Chinese consumers, expressing optimism regarding the revival of tourism between the two countries following the cancellation of the Chinese visa system for Russian citizens. He confirmed that Moscow is also working to activate a visa-free travel system for Chinese tourists.

The Russian Prime Minister added that the bilateral meeting format between the two governments, in place for three decades, serves as a unique model for international cooperation, reflecting the continuity and reliability of Russian-Chinese relations based on comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation.

Mishustin concluded his speech by inviting his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang to visit Moscow to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states scheduled for mid-November.

For his part, Chinese Premier Li Qiang affirmed his country’s readiness to enhance strategic dialogue with Russia and expand cooperation in various fields to safeguard the developmental and security interests of both countries amid profound changes in the international system.
