Marrakech: Five Foreign Nationals Arrested for Hacking Online Betting Applications
The local police of Marrakech, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested five foreign citizens on Saturday, November 15. Among them are four Belarusians and one French national, suspected of involvement in attacks on digital processing systems and the hacking of online betting applications.
Initial investigations revealed that four of the detainees were behind the infiltration of online betting applications, later transferring the illicit funds to their personal accounts. This was done in collusion with the French suspect, who was apprehended at a villa in the “Tasalant” area on the outskirts of Marrakech.
Search operations conducted at the homes of the suspects led to the seizure of computer equipment, storage devices, and internet connections, which are currently undergoing necessary forensic examinations at the National Police’s digital evidence analysis laboratory.
The suspects have been referred to a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to uncover the circumstances and details of this case and to determine any potential extensions of this criminal activity.
