Laayoune: The National Ports Agency Accelerates the Digitization of Port Services
On Wednesday in the port city of Laayoune, the National Ports Agency (ANP) presented the latest developments in the digitization of port services during a study day organized in partnership with PortNet, the unified national portal for simplifying foreign trade procedures.
The event was themed “Digitization of Port Services and Logistics Performance” and brought together port operators, logistics providers, and industrialists from the region as a platform for dialogue on modernizing ports and technical innovations aimed at improving flow, tracking, and service quality at Laayoune port and across all Moroccan ports.
Tarek Mahouni, Director of Information Systems and Digital Transformation at the agency, delivered a presentation on the latest digitized services, foremost among which is the complete digitization of temporary occupancy requests for public port land, allowing investors to submit their requests electronically without the need to travel.
For his part, the Port of Laayoune’s captain, Mustafa Mouka, emphasized the strategic importance of digitization in enhancing growth, efficiency, and sustainability in ports, affirming that the meeting also identified the needs of various stakeholders and the opportunities presented by digital transformations.
Youssef Bkhebir, Director of Information Systems at PortNet, provided details on the anticipated innovations for 2025, particularly the Unified Foreign Trade Portal 2025-2027, which will enable a unified and proactive processing of import and export files, significantly reducing operational timelines. He also showcased “Tijaria,” Morocco’s first smart assistant tailored for foreign trade, available for free at tijaria.ma, alongside the PortNet 4.0 strategy, which employs artificial intelligence for automatic classification of declarations, anomaly detection, and precise timeline forecasting.
The meeting included several workshops on digital port services, the integration of the logistics chain, and a complete digital interface for users. This initiative is part of the Morocco Digital 2030 vision, which positions digital transformation as a lever for enhancing port and logistics performance and reinforcing the competitiveness of the sector.
