The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced a competition for the Mohammed VI Prize for Islamic Studies. This award aims to reward research conducted in the field of Islamic studies and other intellectual issues that engage the interest of the Islamic world, touching on the social and religious aspects of citizens.

According to a statement from the ministry, this competition comes “based on the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and in an effort to highlight the truth of Islam, unveil the components of rich Islamic thought, present it in living languages, encourage rigorous and sound research and studies in the Islamic field, and support the intellectual and scientific movement in the Kingdom.”

The same source confirmed that this prize proposes the theme “Islamic Belief and Its Impact on Ethics and Behavior.” It indicated that one of the conditions for participating in the award is that the work must be focused on the topic chosen by the award committee, written in a scientific and original manner, and that its authors have not previously received any awards for it. The submissions must be submitted in Arabic or another living language, printed in five copies, registered on a USB flash drive, and must not be less than 200 pages and not exceed 300 pages. The submissions should be delivered to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs three months before the award presentation date.

The statement emphasized that the winner of this award will receive a monetary prize of 200,000 dirhams, in addition to a commemorative badge and a certificate of appreciation. It added that the award may be shared equally between candidates if the scientific value of the competing works is deemed equal, and it will be presented on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday.

The doors for participation will open starting from 28 Jumada I 1447 AH, corresponding to November 20, 2025, until mid-Shawwal 1448 AH, corresponding to March 25, 2027.

Participants can obtain the participation form and the information sheet for the proposed topic from the Islamic Affairs delegations or from the ministry’s website: www.habous.gov.ma.
