Khalid Al-Hari Apologizes to the Bar Association and Condemns the Leakage of Clips from the Ethics Committee Meeting

In the context of the controversy sparked by the leakage of clips from a closed meeting of the temporary committee managing the affairs of the journalism and publishing sector, Khalid Al-Hari, a member of the Ethics Committee, sent an official message to the President of the Bar Association of Morocco, expressing his professional apology and clarifying the background of what occurred during that meeting held last April.

The letter stated that his remarks during the internal discussion were not directed at any members of the Bar Association and did not target the profession. He emphasized that it was a moment of emotion within a sensitive professional discussion that should have been treated with confidentiality and responsibility, and should not have been used or promoted outside its context.

Al-Hari strongly condemned what he described as the “deliberate leakage” of edited and distorted clips from the meeting, affirming that this act undermines the trust on which committee work depends and tarnishes the reputation of both the legal and journalistic professions. He added that the behavior exhibited by those who leaked the content is “contrary to the ethics of legal and media professions.”

He also clarified that his tone during the meeting was not as calm as required, stating that he offers a sincere apology to the President of the Association and to all lawyers who may have been affected by the leaked content, while also reaffirming his deep respect for the legal profession and its essential role in safeguarding rights and freedoms and upholding the rule of law.

In conclusion, Al-Hari reiterated his full readiness to cooperate with the Bar Association in all initiatives aimed at strengthening the bridges of respect between the journalistic and legal communities, as well as protecting the confidentiality of meetings and the reputation of institutions.
