Abdelatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, met today in Marrakech with Faissal Chekharr, the Chief of Police for the United Nations and Assistant Secretary-General for Rule of Law. This meeting is part of a series of bilateral discussions taking place on the sidelines of the 93rd Interpol General Assembly.
The meeting occurred at the “Menara Gardens,” which is hosting the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization until November 27. The two sides discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation between Moroccan security agencies and the United Nations police.
A statement from the General Directorate of National Security indicated that Faissal Chekharr expressed the UN Secretary-General’s desire to strengthen the partnership with Morocco’s national security services to support and enhance UN police forces, both in their headquarters in New York and in peacekeeping missions across conflict zones worldwide.
The UN official praised the competencies of Moroccan national security personnel, highlighting their importance for UN missions due to their extensive field experience and ability to work in diverse environments, as well as their proficiency in several languages, which facilitates their deployment in various regions.
This meeting is part of a series of discussions held by the Director General of National Security with heads of delegations from countries and organizations participating in the Interpol session in Marrakech, aimed at strengthening security cooperation and developing international partnerships to enhance global security and combat transnational crime.
