Chakib Alj Announces Launch of “Made in Morocco” Brand, Affirming: National Industry is Achieving Unprecedented Growth
Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, confirmed during the third edition of National Industry Day, held under the esteemed patronage of King Mohammed VI, that Moroccan industry has made significant strides. He announced the launch of the new brand “Made in Morocco,” aimed at enhancing the position of national products in both domestic and international markets.
Alj stated that this industrial path reflects a growing sense of national pride, highlighting that “Moroccan industry is experiencing steady growth, as evidenced by the numbers.” For instance, the food industry sector recorded an average annual growth rate of 6% over the past five years, achieving a turnover exceeding 190 billion dirhams.
He pointed out that the pharmaceutical sector is also witnessing strong momentum, currently covering 70% of the national market’s drug needs, with turnover surpassing 30 billion dirhams. Additionally, the plastic, chemical, and metal sectors continue to grow, thanks to the development of production capabilities and the enhancement of local added value.
Regarding exports, Alj emphasized that foreign direct investments increased by over 50% in the first eight months of this year, reaching 23 billion dirhams. He added that the automotive sector remains a prominent example of this success, with its exports exceeding 165 billion dirhams within 15 years and a production rate of one vehicle per minute in Moroccan factories, solidifying the country’s position as a leader in Africa in this domain. He also pointed to the remarkable progress in the aviation sector, particularly in aircraft engine manufacturing, positioning Morocco as an emerging industrial hub on the international stage.
Alj confirmed that these achievements are the result of “a clear royal vision, qualified Moroccan human resources, and strong economic and financial stability,” indicating that the launch of the “Made in Morocco” brand is a product of collaboration between the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aimed at promoting national products that have gained the trust of Moroccan consumers seeking quality and competitiveness.
He concluded his remarks by asserting that this initiative represents a new step towards strengthening Morocco’s industrial sovereignty and enhancing its global competitiveness, promoting the “Made in Morocco” brand as a symbol of excellence, trust, and quality.
