Bank Al-Maghrib Issues Commemorative Silver Coin to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Green March
Bank Al-Maghrib announced today, Thursday, the issuance of a commemorative silver coin valued at 250 dirhams, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Green March.
The bank clarified in an official statement that the face of the coin features an image of King Mohammed VI, along with the phrases “Mohammed VI” and “Kingdom of Morocco” in both Arabic and Tifinagh, with the year of issuance indicated as “1447 – 2025.”
The reverse side of the coin includes a stylized map of Morocco set against a depiction of the globe, the national emblem, and the number “50” prominently displayed to signify half a century of this national epic, along with the nominal value of “250 dirhams.”
Inscribed at the top is the phrase “The 50th Anniversary of the Green March,” with its French translation “50ème Anniversaire de la Marche Verte” at the bottom.
Bank Al-Maghrib noted that the coin is made from a 925 silver and 75 copper alloy, weighs 28.28 grams, has a diameter of 38.61 millimeters, and was struck using advanced experimental technology.
