Morocco’s U-17 National Team Achieves Historic Victory with a 16-0 Win over New Caledonia in the Youth World Cup
The Moroccan U-17 national team secured a historic victory—their largest ever—by overwhelming New Caledonia with a score of 16-0 during their match on Sunday at Al Rayyan Stadium. This took place as part of the third round of the group stage (Group B) in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
The “Atlas Cubs” delivered an astonishing and entertaining performance, demonstrating their determination to redeem themselves following losses to Japan and Portugal, marking an unprecedented result in Morocco’s history in youth competitions.
Scoring for Morocco were Badr Soukreat (3′), Othman Ben Salah (11′ and 18′), Adam Daoudi (41′ and 42′), Elias Hadaoui (44′), Ziad Baha (45+2 and 50′), Zakaria Al-Khalifi (48′), Noufal Al-Hidani (56′ and 60′), Abdullah Wazan (73′ and 90+2′), an own goal by player Andrew (76′), and Elias Al-Aoud (80′ and 90′).
The New Caledonian team received two red cards at the 22nd and 31st minutes, further contributing to their collapse against Morocco’s relentless offensive onslaught.
With this emphatic win, the Moroccan team concluded their group stage matches with a record-setting victory and kept their hopes alive for advancing to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.
However, qualification remains dependent on the results of other teams such as Qatar, Costa Rica, Uganda, and Saudi Arabia, whose standings fluctuate between one point and zero points. The “Atlas Cubs” are hopeful that the outcomes will favor them in securing a ticket to the Round of 16.
