The Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) highlights Moroccan-Spanish integration in the agri-food sector
The Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation (MICEPP) and San Telmo Business School, organized the second edition of the “Export Morocco Now” program, focusing on Moroccan-Spanish agri-food value chains and opportunities for innovation and access to European markets.
This edition follows the first dedicated to the American market, aimed at supporting the international expansion of Moroccan companies, emphasizing the significance of the Spanish market as Morocco’s primary trading partner, and the opportunities Europe provides for developing high-value-added exports.
The conference, held in Rabat, featured institutional representatives, including the Spanish Ambassador to Morocco, MICEPP, ASMEX, CEMAES from the Moroccan Agricultural Bank group, and UM6P, alongside experts and stakeholders in the economic sector, as well as leading companies in the Moroccan and Spanish agri-food sectors. Discussions centered on integrating value chains, avenues for innovation and financing, technology transfer, and identifying promising sectors in Europe, while underscoring Morocco’s capabilities as a regional production and processing hub committed to international standards in quality, sustainability, traceability, and competitiveness.
The event also highlighted the robustness of the Moroccan-Spanish strategic partnership, which has been strengthened following Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s visit to Rabat in April 2022 and the adoption of a joint declaration establishing cooperation based on transparency, mutual respect, and ongoing consultation.
The experience of San Telmo Business School enriched the conference proceedings, allowing Moroccan companies to explore innovative models, particularly in the Agri-tech field, and identify tangible opportunities for entry into European markets. This partnership enhances the objectives of the “Export Morocco Now” program in creating practical bridges between Moroccan companies and their international partners, while supporting the improvement of production quality and enhancing the competitiveness of Moroccan products.
Through such initiatives, AMDIE confirms its role in supporting Moroccan exporters and its desire to further integrate the national economic fabric into global value chains.
