Title: The Polisario Promotes Lies and Fabricates Protests in a Desperate Attempt to Mislead Public Opinion

In light of the increasing frequency of systematic media disinformation, Sahrawi activists are warning against the promotional campaigns led by the Polisario Front through the dissemination of misleading videos and old images presented as documenting recent protests in Moroccan cities, particularly in the southern regions.
Local sources confirmed that the circulated materials do not reflect the current reality but are used in a campaign aimed at tarnishing Morocco’s image and misleading international public opinion regarding an alleged internal unrest. Among the fabricated clips being circulated is a video from 2017 in Smara, which was presented as documenting recent events, despite the original incident being related to a local altercation with no connection to any protest.
Additionally, old footage, such as that from the Akdim Izik camp events in 2010, has been inserted into artificial contexts through a form of media dramatization known as report theatricalization, implying the existence of new disturbances. The separatist propaganda machine resorts to using archived images and fabricated voiceovers in an attempt to create a “virtual event” via social media.
The front continues to spread fabricated content in Moroccan dialect to mislead followers, activating newly created fake accounts that promote claims of “uprisings” or “security breakdowns,” supported by unrelated images. Misleading hashtags and closed platforms like Telegram are exploited to paint a false picture of the situation, as if they are a digital operations room managed from outside the country.
In light of these tactics, Moroccans must cultivate digital awareness, verify news sources, and refrain from being swayed by disinformation campaigns that aim to destabilize and fuel separatist agendas.
