On October 31, 2025, the Friday sermon will focus on the theme of “The Necessity to Avoid Corruption on Earth,” as announced by the Higher Scientific Council within its “Guidance Plan” for preaching.

The first part of the sermon, titled “The Prohibition of Corruption on Earth and Its Forms,” states that the Qur’anic verses prohibit corruption after God has prepared the earth to be suitable for human life and fulfilling their needs, emphasizing that any corruption that occurs is a result of what people have earned through their actions.

The sermon detailed various manifestations of corruption, from assaulting people and shedding their blood to breaking promises and unlawfully consuming their wealth through deceit and cheating in measurements. It asserts that combating corruption and preventing evils is a duty for everyone, according to their position and responsibility, noting that corruption encompasses all legal and religious violations that lead to disruption and instability in people’s lives. It highlights that “God restrains with authority what cannot be restrained through the Qur’an,” referring to the role of authority and systems in deterring evils and protecting the public good.

Additionally, the sermon addressed the environmental forms of corruption that have become pressing issues for humanity today, such as air and water pollution, deforestation, and harming animals. It pointed out that Islam has long warned against such practices and has encouraged the planting of trees and the cleanliness of bodies and places.

It concluded by stating that combating environmental corruption is inseparable from fighting corruption in human conduct, as the righteousness of the earth – as the sermon expresses – can only be achieved through the righteousness of those who inhabit it.

The Higher Scientific Council organizes sermons under its guidance to connect religious discourse with contemporary societal issues.
