The National Organization of Health Professionals: The Royal Health Reform Workshop Has Entered Its Critical Phase

Rabat – The National Organization of Health Professionals announced in an official statement that it is closely following the public discussion regarding the reality of the health system. It emphasized that Morocco has been experiencing an unprecedented health reform phase for the past four years, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, making health a fundamental pillar in building the new social state.

The organization highlighted that this royal initiative has led to the establishment of major strategic institutions, such as the High Health Authority, the Moroccan Drug and Health Products Agency, and the Moroccan Blood and Blood Products Agency. In addition, it has launched local health groups to bring services closer to citizens, employed over 20,000 health professionals, and improved their financial and professional conditions.

According to the statement, half of the health centers have been upgraded, university hospitals and faculties of medicine and pharmacy have been built in various regions, and the health sector budget will reach 32.6 billion dirhams in 2025, reflecting the central role that health has begun to occupy in national public policies.

The organization affirmed that these achievements represent the foundational stage of structural reform and that the government has chosen to face challenges with political courage and national responsibility, understanding that the results of reform require gradualness and continuity.

It called for speeding up the pace of practical implementation by enhancing medical governance, activating local treatment pathways, developing regional centers of excellence in priority specialties such as obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, and oncology, along with establishing a national emergency medicine strategy.

The organization stressed the necessity of expanding participation to include all categories of health professionals and creating professional bodies that regulate health professions, seeing this as a means to reinforce competency, responsibility, and ethical practice.

It also demanded that the High Health Authority’s role be strengthened as a genuine guarantor of service quality and patient safety, by adopting health institutions according to strict criteria that ensure treatment safety and transparency in emergency management.

The organization stated that recent social protests should not be interpreted as a rejection of reform, but rather as a legitimate expression of accumulated suffering over the years, urging the investment of these voices as an indicator to accelerate practical implementation and ensure equitable access to treatment.

It further emphasized the importance of involving young health professionals in the reform process as they are the natural extension of the profession and a guarantee for its sustainability. It called for a comprehensive national mobilization to rebuild trust between the citizen and their health system, transforming the royal health reform initiative into a national success story.

The organization concluded its statement by reiterating that health is not just an ordinary administrative sector, but the cornerstone of national dignity and a pillar of social justice, affirming its commitment to work alongside all stakeholders to serve this significant royal project under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him.
